Innovator Spotlight: Brad Dalton
Every week, we take some time to focus on someone in the metro Atlanta area that is doing amazing work that matters. Today, we’re talking with sculptor and gift-maker Brad Dalton. Through Gifts of Clay, he helps people give incredible gifts to those they care about. When someone needs to say thank you, express appreciation, or honor someone, he’s the person they call.
What are you excited about right now?
I am working with a lot of synergy right now. God’s love for me is in my work. I try to infuse my work with that love and hope that the people who receive my work as gifts feel that love too. The lessons I’ve been learning over the past few years have honed my character, and they’ve taught me that the work I do doesn’t have to be separate from the person I am. From this I see my skills and heart colliding to make great work.
What’s something that you’ve accomplished in the past year that you are proud of?
My biggest accomplishment is deepening my trust with clients and partners. Gift giving is vulnerable. And when partners and clients come to me, I work hard to win their trust so that they know their interests are safe with me.
What’s your vision for what’s next? Where are you headed?
Like I said before, the work I do isn’t separate from the person I am. And right now, I’m headed down the narrow road with Jesus into a fight for the hearts of men. That means that I take my craft even more seriously because I want to represent him well. In addition to the adventures in clay gifts, I’m developing a men’s ministry through my church, Vertical Life, because I have a heart for equipping men to become more kingdom strong.
In the last 90 days, have you experienced a new resource that taught you something new?
I’m reading a book call Open heart, Open mind by Thomas Keating. It’s a book on contemplative prayer. It’s something that I want to be better at, and the book has been really enlightening. I’m learning how to draw near and stay near the heart of God.
Do you have a recently released project or upcoming project that you’d like people to check out?
I’ve recently started my own YouTube Channel called “Gifts of Clay.” It’ll give you a great idea about what we’re working on and what we’re about!
Anything else that folks should know?
The Lord is wildly trustworthy with your venture. The with-God journey is the best. The journey without him is much harder. I can say that from experience because I’ve attempted both. No way I would attempt anything on my own ever again. He leads us into safe pasture. He leads us into life.
